IC 1805, Heart Nebula

IC 1805, most commonly known as the Heart Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia. Located in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way it is approx. 7,500 light years from Earth. It was discovered by William Herschel on 3 November 1787. The nebula has an open cluster in the central part, known as Collinder 26, the radiation from this is responsible for the nebula’s emission and morphology.
