RCW 105 (also known as Gum 51) is a faint emission nebula and star-forming region located in the constellation Norma. It is part of the compact OB association R105 and is surrounded by molecular clouds and dust. Young, hot stars in the area ionise the surrounding gas, creating a dramatic structure sculpted by the intense radiation. It is estimated to be around 5,500 light years from Earth.
