LDN 43, or the Cosmic Bat Nebula, is a dark nebula in the constellation Ophiuchus, known for its distinctive bat-like shape formed by dense dust clouds that block background starlight, making it a stellar nursery where new stars are forming, with glowing knots of gas (cometary nebulae) visible within.
