Cederblad 51 (Ced 51) is a blue reflection nebula in the constellation of Orion. It is embedded in the northern border of the very large molecular cloud and HII region Sharpless 2-264, which is also known as Lambda Orionis Ring. This star formation region contains also some dark nebulae (Barnard 30 - 32, LDN 1580 - 1584) and several Herbig-Haro objects (HH).
Herbig–Haro (HH) objects are bright patches of nebulosity associated with newborn stars. They are formed when narrow jets of partially ionised gas ejected by stars collide with nearby clouds of gas and dust at several hundred kilometres per second. Herbig–Haro objects are commonly found in star-forming regions.
