The Elephant's Trunk is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust within the large emission region of IC1396 and the gas is energized by it's central star. You can find this large object high in the sky in the northern hemisphere in the constellation of Cepheus.
This image was created using several one-click observations from both SPA-1 and 2 and is displayed in SHO (Hubble Palette).
