IC 1396 is a huge ionized gas and dust cloud seen in the Constellation Cepheus. The structure top center of this image gives it the name The Elephant's Trunk. Herschel's Garnet Star, a massive red hypergiant, gives the reddish glow on the left side of the nebula. This image is from 45 hours of raw data from the SPA-1 and SPA-3 telescopes.
