Messier 41 is a stunning, large bright open cluster located in the constellation of Canis Major.

It contains about 100 stars, including several red giants, and some white dwarfs. The diameter of the cluster is about 25–26 light-years. It is estimated to be 190 million years old, and cluster properties and dynamics suggest a total life expectancy of 500 million years for this cluster, before it will have disintegrated.

Image was acquired with CHI-1, data from 2 one-clicks.

      Total integration time: 160 minutes
