NGC 2442 - The Meat Hook Galaxy
This is an image of NGC 2442, also known as the Meathook Galaxy. It is a spiral galaxy about 50 million light years away in the constellation Volans. The distorted structure of the central bar is thought to be the result of a past interaction with PGC21457.
