Peering into the Heart of Darkness
The Eta Carinae nebula, NGC3372, is a favourite target for astrophotographers (see the Telescope Live "Community Work" blog of 2020 Aug 7). This version shows a rendering of narrow-band SHO data in a pseudo-RGB palette, with a light crop and myriad faint stars removed in order to emphasize the drama of the glowing gas.
