NGC 3603 & 3576

This 2x2 mosaic of images from our 60cm Planewave CDK24 at El Sauce Observatory in Chile shows NGC 3603 & 3576 in the constellation Carina.

The region to the left (East), containing the star cluster NGC 3603, is located about 20,000 light-years away, and is well known to astronomers as one of the Milky Way's largest star-forming regions. The `Statue of Liberty' nebula, to the right (West) and usually referred to as NGC 3576 (the subregions have a total of six NGC numbers), is a collection of glowing gas clouds that lie only about half as far from Earth.
