RCW 52 also known as Gum 45, is a vast cloud of ionized hydrogen gas that glows a vivid red due to the intense ultraviolet radiation from the hot, young stars of NGC 3603. The nebula spans 70 light-years across and is approximately 5,200 light-years from Earth.
