      Centaurus A

      NGC 5128 a.k.a. Centaurus A

      ……………………………………………

Discovered almost 200 years ago, NGC 5128 is a galaxy that can be found in the constellation Centaurus, 10-15 million light-years away from Earth. With an apparent diameter of 60,000 light-years, Centaurus A is considered to be one of the brightest galaxies in the night sky, along with Andromeda, Triangulum, Small Magellanic Cloud and, of course, Large Magellanic Cloud.

A popular target for both observation and astrophotography, Centaurus A is visible from all over the southern hemisphere but only from a low latitude in the northern hemisphere (not my case), the ideal time being spring and summer.
