NGC 6729 is a reflection/emission nebula in the constellation Corona Australis.
It is in the Corona Australis molecular complex, one of the closest star factories within our galaxy at a distance of 400 light-years.
NGC 6729 is a variable nebula that shows irregular variations in brightness and shape.
It was discovered by German astronomer Julius Schmidt in 1861.
