NGC 6822 - Barnard's Galaxy

NGC 6822 is a barred irregular galaxy approximately 1.6 million light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius and about 7,000 ly in diameter. It is part of the Local Group of galaxies and one of the closer galaxies to the Milky Way.

One can recognize huge red HII-regions, such as the ring and bubble nebula. These are giant star factories: the size of this ring nebula is estimated to be 419 light-years.

Total exposure 90 minutes: 3subs of 450s with each of the LRGB-filters.
