      NGC4216 SN2024gy

Exciting image of SN2024gy located in galaxy NGC4216, which is near the heart of the Virgo Cluster. It is a nearly edge-on intermediate spiral galaxy that lit up with a supernova explosion on Jan, 4, 2024. It was first discovered by prolific supernova hunter Koichi Itagaki, who is an amateur astronomer. This is only 1 hour of exposure, but the detail of the galaxy and brightness of the supernova sure came to life after processing! Great job imaging Telescope Live!!
