Fenrir the Dark Wolf Nebula

𝑭𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒊𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑾𝒐𝒍𝒇 𝑵𝒆𝒃𝒖𝒍𝒂

Continuing my processing of Southern Hemisphere targets (astrophotography targets I cannot physically observe from the Northern Hemisphere), I present to you 𝑭𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒊𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑾𝒐𝒍𝒇 𝑵𝒆𝒃𝒖𝒍𝒂.

Located in the constellation of Scorpius and 6,230 light years from Earth. It is part of a larger nebula, a star-forming region of our Milky Way dominated by hydrogen emissions. This part of the nebula is nicknamed "Fenrir" or "Dark Wolf" due to its striking resemblance to a wolf's head.

As a dark nebula, SL-17 consists of dense interstellar clouds that block light, making it an ideal site for studying star formation and interstellar dust.
