A jewel of the Taurus constellation, the Pleiades (M45) is one of the most recognizable open clusters in the night sky.

Located about 440 light-years from Earth, this cluster contains hundreds of stars, though only the brightest seven are visible to the naked eye.

The delicate blue reflection nebulae surrounding the stars are caused by interstellar dust scattering their intense blue light — a breathtaking reminder of cosmic beauty close to home.
