      NGC 2442

      NGC 2442, also known as NGC 2443 or PGC 21373, is a distorted, barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Piscis (The Flying Fish), approximately 50 million light-years away. It was discovered on December 23, 1834, by John Herschel.


      It is an active nucleus galaxy. It contains opaque dust lanes, blue clusters of young stars, and reddish star-forming regions surrounding the galactic core, glowing with the yellowish light of an older population of stars.
