North America & Pelican (widefield, SHO)

NGC 7000 (North America Nebula) and the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) are a famous pair of bright, expansive emission nebulae in the constellation Cygnus, part of the same vast star-forming region, separated by a dark dust lane. They resemble a continent and a pelican, respectively, glowing from ionized hydrogen gas excited by nearby massive stars, making them popular targets for astrophotographers due to their distinctive shapes and active star birth. Custom SHO workflow, pre and post processing in Pixinsight, with final touches in Paintshop Pro, enjoy!
