      NGC 6822, Barnard's Galaxy

      NGC 6822, also known as Barnard's Galaxy, is a barred irregular galaxy. It is part of the local group of galaxies that includes the Milky Way Galaxy. It is located in the constellation Sagittarius and is more than 2 MLY distant. It is the closest non-satellite galaxy to the Milky Way. (NASA Science)
