This is the Vela Supernova Remnant (Vela XYZ). It is located in the southern constellation of Vela. It is the result of a type II supernova that occurred 11,000 years ago. (NOIRLAB)
This image is a narrowband image (HOO). It shows the emission nebulas contribution of H-alpha (red) and OIII (blue).

Stars are narrowband HOO color.
The purpose of this Narrowband image is to show the composition of the emission nebula. Hydrogen compared to oxygen is very light and composes the red outer regions of nebulosity. Heavier elements, such as Oxygen were produced and ejected by the supernova. Oxygen composes the wavefront debris in the inner part of the nebula.
Located just above center in the image is NGC 2736, the Pencil Nebula. It is the slender horizontal blue debris region, starts as a point on the left and fans out to the right.
