NGC 3115, the Spindle Galaxy in Sextans

The elegant silhouette of the lenticular galaxy NGC 3115, a sort of prototype for this class of objects, somewhere between spirals and ellipticals. It is also the most representative object in the small constellation Sextans, bordering Hydra.

This image was remotely acquired from Chile on March 6, 2022. The total exposure was 80 minutes in LRGB with a Planewave CDK24 60-cm f/6.5 telescope and a FLI ProLine PL9000 camera.
