NGC253 - the Sculptor galaxy is located in the southern hemisphere constellation Sculptor. Classified as a Starburst galaxy it has a very high rate of star formation. However, the last Supernova detected in this galaxy was in 1940. Maybe more to come? Keep an eye on it! It sits at a distance of approximately 11.4 million light-years away and is one of the brightest galaxies for earth observers.
