NGC5188, Centaurus A, about 12 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Centaurus. It is called a peculiar galaxy because it has the form of an elliptical galaxy but also has strong dust lanes like a spiral galaxy——its form likely arising when an elliptical galaxy merged with a spiral galaxy. At its center is a supermassive black hole of over 55 million solar masses.
