Located roughly 8,500 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus, the Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380) is an active star-forming region surrounding an open star cluster. Strong stellar winds and intense radiation from young, massive stars carve out the dense interstellar gas and dust, giving shape to towering pillars and intricate filamentary structures. This image represents 30 hours of total integration time captured through narrowband filters. Processed with a custom SHO palette, the image reveals a sharp contrast between the central ionized Oxygen turquoise cavity and the surrounding golden-amber ridges driven by Hydrogen and Sulfur emissions.
