Rosette Nebula

This nebula is an HII region in the constellation Monoceros. The image is a closeup of the center of the nebula as captured by CHI-1. In the center of the dark red region is the open cluster, NGC2244. The bright star in the lower left just below the light blue wisps is 12 Monocerotis. The proper motion of this star will move it to the far left edge of this image in 10,000 yrs.
