      This image shows a detail of IC 2177 or the 'Seagull Nebula', a birthplace of new stars that lies along the border between the constellations Monoceros and Canis Major, about 3650 light years from Earth.

      The Seagull's Head of IC 2177 is also cataloged as NGC 2327.
