      M12

Image of M12, captured with SPA-2.

Messier 12 or M12 (also designated NGC 6218) is a globular cluster in the constellation of Ophiuchus. It is about 15,700 light-years from Earth and has a spatial diameter of about 75 light-years.

M12 is nearly a twin of its apparent neighbor, M10, and is only slightly larger. Nevertheless, it was once believed to be an intermediate type between globular and dense open clusters (like M11 ), as it is not very concentrated.

      Combination of 3 one-click observations.

Total integration time 170 minutes. LRGB 8:9:8:9 subs of 300s with each filter.
