Spiral Galaxy NGC6744 (C101) in Pavo

A large spiral galaxy in the Virgo cluster, and what NASA dubs as a "big brother to the Milky Way," NGC6744 (Caldwell 101) shares many characteristics with our own galaxy.

Per Wikipedia, "One of the largest spiral galaxies, NGC 6744 is considered as a Milky Way mimic in the immediate vicinity, displaying flocculent (fluffy) arms and an elongated core. It also has at least one distorted companion galaxy (NGC 6744A) superficially similar to one of the Magellanic Clouds."
