NGC 1788 is a diffuse nebula in the constellation Orion.
It is located about 2 degrees north of the star β Eridani, in the western part of the constellation; It is relatively small in size and can be observed with a powerful telescope or in long-exposure photos. The nebula reflects the light of nearby stars, in particular a tenth magnitude star, located in the northwestern sector of the nebula. To the south, NGC 1788 is crossed by a dark band, known as LDN 1616; The distance of the nebulous complex is estimated at 1470 light-years from us.
