Cosmic Cascade in NGC1999

Herbig-Haro (HH) objects are bright patches of nebulosity associated with newborn stars. NGC1999 in Orion at an approximate distance of 1,500 light years, is one of many areas where they can be found.

They can change visibly quite rapidly as they move away from their parent star. In the image this is a multiple star V380 Ori, which does not appear in this close up .

HH 222 in the image is a giant shocked region in the L11641 cloud, and popularly known as the Orion streamers or "The Waterfall" on account of its structure. HH 222 is located at the top of the "fall" and at the base of the "fall" is another such object, HH 34. The stream is unusual in that it spans almost 6 arc minutes. There are also several smaller HH objects in the fov, but these are not very well defined .

Please do not be put off by the attached image which for me was a real struggle, ending up with blurring the mottled background into oblivion. Hopefully someone more proficient will process and post a decent result and thus encourage others to try.
