The Helix Nebula is a large planetary nebula located in the constellation Aquarius, about 650 light-years away from Earth. It is also known as NGC 7293 and has a distinct helix or spiral shape, hence its name. The nebula was formed when a dying star shed its outer layers, which were illuminated by the star's remaining core, creating a glowing cloud of gas and dust.
