The Trifid Nebula (M20) is a stunning combination of emission, reflection, and dark nebulae, located in the constellation Sagittarius. It lies about 5,000 light-years from Earth and is a well-known target in astrophotography due to its vivid colors and striking structure. The name "Trifid" comes from the nebula's appearance — it is visually divided into three dark lanes that give it a tri-lobed look. M20 is an active star-forming region, making it a valuable site for studying stellar birth and the interaction between young stars and surrounding gas and dust.
