Statue of Liberty Nebula

The Statue of Liberty nebula, RCW 57, or NGC 3576 is an emission object and star-forming region in Carina. Its features closely resemble lady liberty. It has a bright core for a pedestal (ngc 3576), bright blue filaments for a torso (ngc 3584), as well as a defined head, arm, and torch where the dark nebulae appear. Faint filaments of ionized hydrogen and sulfur gas surround the area, adding some drama and color to it. The nebula is featured in SHO color with synthetic RGB stars.
