Messier 78 (NGC 2068) is one of the brightest reflection nebulae in the sky, embedded within the vast Orion Molecular Cloud Complex.
Located in the constellation Orion, this cosmic veil shines not by its own light, but by reflecting the glow of nearby young, hot stars hidden within its dusty cocoon.
The soft blue tones reveal interstellar dust scattering starlight, while subtle reddish filaments betray faint emission from ionized hydrogen. Deep within M78, new stars are still forming, their radiation slowly sculpting and dispersing the surrounding clouds.
