NGC 7000 (North America Nebula) and the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) are a famous pair of bright, expansive emission nebulae in the constellation Cygnus, part of the same vast star-forming region, separated by a dark dust lane. They resemble a continent and a pelican, respectively, glowing from ionized hydrogen gas excited by nearby massive stars, making them popular targets for astrophotographers due to their distinctive shapes and active star birth.
