Ghost Nebula, sh 2-136

The reflection nebula, the Ghost Nebula, sh 2-136 located in the constellation Cepheus. This region is composed of dark molecular clouds.

Several embedded stars, whose reflected light make the nebula appear a yellowish-brown color. This structure is referred to as a Bok Globule. Bok Globules are dark nebulae composed of cosmic dust and hydrogen gas. Star formation occurs in Bok Globules. (Center for Astrophysics, Harvard & Smithsonian)
