The Perseus Molecular Cloud is a vast star forming structure filled with reflection nebulae, dark dust lanes, Herbig–Haro jets, and embedded protostars. Two of its main structures are: NGC 1333, a star forming region where dust hides most of the newborn stars at visible wavelengths; and IC 348, an open cluster of approximately 400 stars.
