The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) is an emission nebula in the constellation Orion. It's a part of the Orion molecular cloud complex. High-energy ultraviolet light from the bright star Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) ionizes gases in the nebula and causes its glow. This photo was taken with the CHI-1 telescope and narrowband filters.
