This picture shows the globular cluster NGC 6712 and planetary nebula IC 1295 in the constellation Scutum, the Shield.
The bluish, turquoise colored planetary nebula IC 1295 is approximately 4,700 light-years from Earth. The globular cluster NGC 6712 is 26,400 light-years from Earth and 12 billion years old.
