Image of the Large Magellanic Cloud, acquired with the CHI-5 telescope.
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way at a distance of around 160,000 light-years. Based on readily visible stars and a mass of approximately 10 billion solar masses, the diameter of the LMC is about 14,000 light-years.
Data from only 1 one-click exposure.
Total exposure 80 minutes. Sub-exposures were 10 minutes with each filter (LRGB)
