M42 and M43 are star-forming regions that lie in Orion's Sword, easily visible to the naked eye. At the heart of the nebula lies Theta-1 Ori, the 'Trapezium' cluster of four bright stars (and several fainter ones). Just one O-type star, Theta-1 Ori C, is responsible for creating the bright gas of the nebula.
