Globular Cluster M 5 is located in the constellation Serpens at a distance, from Earth, of 24,500 light-years. It is thought to be one of the oldest globular clusters, with an estimated age of 16,000,000,000 years. M 5 has a diameter of 165 light-years, making it one of the largest globular clusters, however, it can just be seen with the naked eye under excellent seeing conditions.
