M8 the Lagoon Nebula
The Lagoon Nebula, Messier 8, is a giant interstellar emission nebula in the constellation Sagittarius. The nebula was discovered by Giovanni Hodierna in 1654 before Charles Messier included in his catalogue of astronomical objects starting in 1774.
