Messier 83 / NGC5236 - Southern Pinwheel

M83 is a barred spiral galaxy sitting at 15 million light-years away at the borders between constellations Hydra and Centaurus. This galaxy is about half the size of our own galaxy having a diameter of about 55000 light years and with a magnitude of 7.5, Messier 83 is one the brightest spiral galaxies in the night sky. The object is moving away from our galaxy with a speed of around 300 km/sec.

This image is the result of processing a high quality LRGB data set obtained through observation bundles and consists of 14 hours and 50 minutes of exposures imaged with CHI-1 telescope located in Chile at El Sauce Observatory.
