NGC 2261 - Hubble's Variable Nebula

NGC 2261 (Ced 83, LBN 920, Caldwell 46 and others) is a nebula located approximately 2,609 light-years away in Monoceros. The clouds of dust are illuminated by R Monocerotis.

Luminance – 49x600s – 490 minutes – binned 1x1

Luminance – 90x300s – 450 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 4x600s – 40 minutes each – binned 1x1

1060 minutes total exposure – 17 hours 40 minutes

Imaged over 24 days in January, February, March and April, 2021 at the El Sauce Observatory (Rio Hurtado, Chile) with a FLI PL 9000 on a PlaneWave CDK24 at f/6.5 3974 mm.
