NGC 6302 - The Bug Nebula

This target is impossible for me to capture from my location. Well, it is, but it would be badly impacted by atmospheric disturbance so why bother!

Because of this target’s brightness, I decided to do 3 minute exposures instead of 5-10m like I do for most objects. I only had 1 hour or “playtime” with that telescope so I did 10 frames of Luminance, and 4 frames of each R,G and B.

The red color in the bottom half of the image appears to be Hydrogen Alpha. It was difficult to compare with other amateur images of this object as they are very difficult to find online. I stumbled upon a wide field photograph of that area of the sky that confirmed to me that it was indeed HA!
