NGC6302 [72 minutes in RGB]

A small but bright bipolar nebula in Scorpius recently imaged using the CDK24 and CMOS camera setup in Chile.

This image has been produced from an AR where 24 x 180second exposures were taken, 72 minutes total. Five each using blue and green filters plus 14 with the red. The red filter data was used to make a luminance image.

A second image using data taken using the CDK24 scope but with 2 different cameras, PL9000 and QHY 600M is also included. All these images were captured using Astrodon HSO filters, those from the PL9000 CCD camera during 2021 and 2022, those from the QHY 600M CMOS camera during August and September 2024.

RGB stars from the AR have been combined with a starless version of the narrowband data, to produce the image.
