NGC 6946 (The Fireworks Galaxy)
NGC 6946 (The Fireworks Galaxy) was discovered by William Herschel on 9 September 1798. NGC 6946 is an active starburst face-on double-barred intermediate spiral galaxy in which ten supernovae have been observed.
