NGC 7252

NGC 7252, also known as the Atoms for Peace Galaxy, is a unique galaxy located in the Aquarius constellation, about 220 million light years away from Earth. Its name comes from its interesting loop-like structures that look like an electron orbiting an atomic nucleus, similar to the imagery often used for atomic peace. This name was further inspired by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower's "Atoms for Peace" speech in December 1953, which aimed to promote nuclear power for peaceful uses. The merging galaxies remind us of nuclear fusion, and the giant loops look like electrons circling around an atomic nucleus.
